Wait wait wait... I'm not understanding. I thought your point was that the STORY of OoT is derivative of LttP, and therefore it's not as good.

Now you're saying MM is better because the gameplay is better, even though MM is derivative of OoT since the same mechanics are used largely throughout.

I am confus.
I don't see how they use the same mechanics. Some of the combat is similar, but providing alternate forms and the repeating timeline changed the came up significantly. OoT felt like a 3D LttP. The two games played almost the exact same way except with a horse thrown in.

I found LttP's dungeons fine and had no issues with their design, but I realize I'm older than most people here so it's probably more about what you grew up with. Personally I thought the water dungeon and dark dungeon of OoT were both bloody awful.
This is the first time I've ever had someone imply my gaming opinion is different because I'm too  young at 41 years old.

Appreciate that one, old timer. :link

Not spooky at all, just boring and a bad design. You feel differently.

Which is fine because it's an excellent theme.

I heard they fixed some of WW flaws in the Wii U remaster
Yeah, supposedly they streamlined some of the game elements. I have it for the Wii U, but I'm kinda just going to keep it sealed as I really only bought it for collection sake. The Gamecube version is still mostly fine and it holds up really well visually. I honestly thought it was weird that they "remastered" it. An HD re-release was all it really needed.

The main thing the re-release of WW anyone should care about is being able to change wind direction on the boat with a press of a button. It's 15ish seconds saved a million times during the game. I'll never play WW on GC again thanks to this.

Speaking of rehashing, a Link Between Worlds. And I'm not going to argue anything with it. Just placing it in the middle here and ignoring it.

But back to OoT and MM. The former might be a partial rehashing of aLttP, but arguably one of the best things about Zelda games is the general game formula. aLttP is great, but OoT is better in most ways. And 3D. OoT is great, but is MM better in most ways? It's better mechanically as a sequel in the same engine. If you like the different formula for the progression, this could go either way. Story for OoT, depth for MM. Is there that much more in MM to make it overall better than OoT? I will say it's close even for me, but arguing it's a rehash doesn't really negatively impact anything for me. There's plenty new and different in OoT.

if nothing else hopefully we can all agree that skyward sword sucked
Agreed.

But what's more egregious is that despite sucking so hard, it was still better than TP.

If anyone thinks that this is the worst opinion ever, I will shamefully concede that they may in fact be right.

I owned TP and finished it, but boy can't I remember nearly anything about it. Only like the wolf, Midna, shadow monsters, and the bayblade. Anything else, I couldn't tell you if it happened. Oh, and the long neck chimkins.

Fairly forgettable game I guess.

no one wants to admit that the best iteration of zelda is the 1986 animated series. the second best iteration of zelda is the cd-i games. the third best iteration of zelda is wind waker
That cartoon was my childhood and I loved it. Still do. The corniness only adds to its appeal for me now. lol

And I saw an ad for that CD-i game as a kid and have always wanted to try it since because the ad made it look awesome to me back then. Never got to try it and I hear it widely agreed that it was terrible, but don't care I'm still curious and want to play it some day :link

the longer we go between picks the more hot takes i will post. super mario odyssey was a better game than breath of the wild. the n64 has a deeper library than people give it credit for. the only good part of twilight princess was midna.

You're gonna have a lot of hot takes because we've already run out of worthwhile N64 games.

This is some value in playing a game that is objectively horrible. The laughter that can be had at witnessing a truly terrible game can be worth the asking price as long as you're not going for Clayfighters Sculptures Cut.

The Atari Jaguar is the best video game console of all time. 64-bit glory.

Nope, I totally fuck with this game on Switch. Ha ha ha, I am the guy buying all the HD remakes at full price ha ha ha.

But seriously I 100%d SS on switch. Unplayable on Wii. It deserves a second chance. I'm in the FUCK MM camp and will be for life. I tried multiple times over the course of my life - could never do it. It's still one of the only Zelda games I didn't get through.

Without the Picori, you wouldn't have a million random rupees, arrows, and bombs hidden in grass and everywhere else.

All Zelda games rely on the Picori to do their shit.

LttP is the best one, none can ever top it.
LttP is fine up until you get to the worm boss that keeps knocking you down to the floor below requiring you to trek back up to restart the boss fight all over again.

Fuck that boss. I would rather get curbstomped by any random boss in Dark Souls than deal with that fucker.
