I still haven't heard of compelling arguments on why one shouldn't wear socks with sandals. There's only been opinions.

The "best" so far is that it's an open toe shoe, so no socks. But then flip-flops and other ones like that are fine with socks.

I'm gonna call y'all who think the above is fine hypocrites.

This is where I lean, honestly. Granted, this is only opinion as there is no laws or regulations about it to force a decision.

Socks with open toes shoes (which SHOULD be the name of this case, and NOT sandals, because again, sandals is subjective), is acceptable in some cases. Socks with slides? Acceptable. Socks with actual sandals? Not acceptable. Even cultural exceptions need to be considered here. Like are we going to say a whole country or civilization is wrong because Japan thinks it's acceptable to wear socks with flip flops? And even designed special socks for it!

Hell, even the ancient Egyptian footwraps TECHNICALLY wore socks with their open toed "shoes." Was it unacceptable to them too?

Your honor, @Ants!, I set forth two motions! First, a motion to amend the case to be against open-toed footwear and not sandals as sandals is a vague and subjective term.

Second, I submit a motion for summary judgment in favor of socks being acceptable with open toes shoes as such empirical historical and cultural evidence suggests we do not have the right to determine otherwise!

What about my sizing argument? If you wear socks with shoes that you usually don't, they won't fit right.

I haven't heard any compelling arguments for it. Helps with foot sweat? Your feet are open to the air, the sweat should just evaporate. Feet are cold? Why are you wearing fucking sandals to begin with?

I'm personally only considering going outside and for longer than a run to the mailbox. Weird clothing choices made inside your own home are exempt from judgement IMO.

There's both thinner and thicker socks, but more importantly the overall fit can be adjusted with the straps. Just loosen or tighten the buggers depending on your need.

I think this please is more so accepting socks with sandals as a perfectly viable option. I have worn mine both with or without. There's just a whole flock of naysayers who can't accept it like the lemmings they are. And that documentary was orchestrated fraud.

It depends on the sandal, but that might work for some sandals and some socks. Still, that's even more annoying than just putting on real shoes.

Sure, putting socks on your hands is also a viable option. But why would you? The only problems it can solve are better solved other ways.

Those would be weird sandals if you can't adjust them. And you'd only adjust them once anyways.

You have a choice though. And that is your choice. Having socks with sandals should not be frowned upon. Sometimes I got socks on and I leave the house in sandals. Other times I got nothing and leave the house in sandals. Depends on my mood, comfort levels, and weather. Like I could walk in the rain with sandals without socks, but if it's dry I can go without. And removing the socks at sudden wetness is possible with sandals without making it awkward to walk with.

My daughter is obsessed with them and my sister has foot issues where those are the most comfortable shoes for her.

So I let them pass, but I personally do not like those overpriced tires.

And Yeezy's are the most absurdly disgusting pieces of trash. And the shoes are ugly too.

I remember back when I was in school, we were learning about China and how everyone had the same kind of shoes and clothing back in the day, because… communism.

Fast-forward to today, Crocs and Stanley cups.

I know a lot of sneakerheads from the old neighborhood, they’re the other end of the spectrum. I could never rationalize what some of those people spend on shoes. However, the Croc wearers are in a class all their own.

Who the fuck makes shoes part of their identity?

Honestly, I am not beholden to many brands anymore. Not in a "only that or none" kind. I have preferences, sure. Like my shoes are all Sketchers. Not because of looks, but comfort and longevity. i've had good luck with them, so I tend to stick with them.

I’m the same way, I’m wearing $6 slides from Walmart because I know what I do to those kind of shoes, why the fuck am I gonna tear up a name brand pair? I have a pair of black Timbs for the winter, and a pair of black DC’s for everything else. The only reason I spend that much on a pair of boots or shoes is because they will last me a while, and I need something durable because there’s always a chance I’m gonna wind up doing something potentially destructive to them.

Feels like this one is winding down and needs to go into the next phase (deliberation), but I'm high on pain killers right now thanks to my root canal so either someone can captain this ship for me or else it'll have to wait until probably this afternoon before I can read through the thread and figure out what to do lol

Nah, issuing rulings on drugs is the way to go.

that shits gonna get sticky and then crunchy real quick. Perfect way to get your feet to smell even worse.

This reminds me of a story my uncle told me about my aunt raiding my cousin’s bedroom as a teen because of an odor. She solved two mysteries that day… where all my cousin’s socks were going, and the smell emanating from his room. Apparently there were dozens of socks adhered to the wall that were thrown behind his dresser, never to be seen until that fateful day. To this day, I’m still not sure which one was traumatized more… my cousin with the army of cock socks at attention, or my aunt that had to use a putty knife to scrape them off of the wall.
