I'm really surprised by this flurry of activity around Liverpool. They're normally pretty good at keeping their negotiations behind closed doors until they're pretty much done, which is why Wirtz felt like it came out of nowhere. At the same time, I'm glad we're being linked with strikers, because we need one. I have some concern about Rodrygo and Watkins, but all of the other names sound pretty good to me, albeit I know very little about Ekitike. Vinicius is surely not realistic.

Vinicius is surely not realistic.

Rumors are that he wants Ronaldo money and Real rightfully so arent budging there. Only other place he could go is Saudi Arabia if he wants that money.

PSG seems to have changed the way the approach squad building, City while having the funds I dont think they'd crash their wage structure for someone like Vini

So yes not realistic, but there is some smoke that he isnt happy

So am I, you normally don't hear anything unless it's pretty much certain the deal is done. Been quite the interesting window for them, I must say. Getting Wirtz was definitely huge for them. Let's see what else they can pull off.

Yeah, you're definitely not giving him that kind of money. He's also coming off a year where he's seen a dip in his performance, so you want to be cautious about that too among other concerns.

Vinicius is a strange case. Bought young from South America, which is common for La Liga clubs. Developed into a superstar. It's not uncommon for those sorts of players to move clubs, as the likes Neymar and Ronaldinho did, but it's quite strange for one of them to be openly unhappy. The Ballon D'or issue was a storm in a teacup, but he has made it very clear that he is unhappy with the racism in Spain. I get some hint that he doesn't feel the club has protected him properly, and now talks about a new contract don't seem to be going well. I understand why it feels like these things are chipping away at his desire to stay at the club. There is also the point that he plays the same position as Mbappe, though obviously they're making that work.

That said, it is very unusual for those sorts of players to come to the Premier League. Neymar went to ultra rich PSG, the older Brazilians went to Italy. The only example that immediately springs to mind of those players coming to the Premier League is Robinho, though I don't think it would be right to class him as a superstar while he was at Madrid. So yes, having Liverpool linked with him is strange. I do think he'd do well in the Premier League though.

I could see New Castle maybe making a splash as they're trying to build their brand. City doesn't need to do that anymore. How rich are United's new owners? (They got sold from the glazers right?) I could see them trying to make a bounce back signing and paying him crazy wages, though that is part of why they are in this problem.

Nope, they still stuck with the Glazers as far as I'm aware. Also, the financial situation isn't looking too bright with them at the moment.

Yeah, Ineos and Jim Ratcliffe only have a minority share, but they control day to day operations. Their financial situation is actually fine in that they're one of the richest clubs in the world, so it'll level out. But they've not been managed well and have a huge wage bill that's bogged down by mediocre talent. They've already bought Cunha and are in for Mbeumo, but I can't see them going for a £100m+ player.
