Interesting websites

We all complain about the internet causing brain-rot so why not instead post stuff that we find interesting, fun or at least more valuable than the typical influencer shill post? I'll supply some to start:

Since we are all GameWinners, here's a repository of 3D models of levels from a wide variety of games and platforms. Majority of it is Nintendo stuff, but there are some PS2 and an increasing number of PC games as well.

A website where you can scroll over the globe and it'll start playing a radio station from wherever you go. Hilariously restricted in the UK unless you pull out a VPN.

Really could have selected many of Neal's things individually. The Password Game and Infinite Craft are probably the most famous given they both went viral. Internet Roadtrip near the top is people controlling a street-view by consensus, and is as I type in a store in Sherbrooke QC. But everything here is fun to play around with and well made.

Some fun optical illusions. Lose all your friends by sending them this link.

Pretty self explanatory, but a cool interactive version of something you've probably seen in video format.

A pixel based sandbox. You might have played similar things before, but this one aims to be more scientifically accurate and ends up having a very impressive level of depth. Also not polluted by ads unlike most of the mobile equivalents.

Made by the same person as the one above. A cooking version that is a bit of fun even as it's not the most comprehensive thing around.

An interactive demonstration of the effects of human co-operation and how game theory can help determine outcomes in an easy to understand way. I think this can help a bit to explain the problems facing today's world.

This guy does some insanely good explanatory articles on various topics with graphics and interactives. I was linked the mechanical watch one (April 2022) and it's amazing.

This has been posted before, but it's too cool to skip and it gets updates pretty frequently. An isometric spot-the-reference artwork.

A nostalgia-filled mess which is made from old GeoCities gifs and images.

A powerful interactive weather map with a huge number of layers to toy around with. Ventusky is an alternative.

Throw a (virtual) paper plane with other people from around the world, because why not?

This is the closest thing to brain-rot that I will post. I won't spoil the surprise because it's magical.

I put this at the bottom because it's not so much a bit of fun but a very complex but powerful fantasy map creator which does require a steep learning curve.

Oh shit some brain-rot seeped in! EJECT...EJECT.........RESETTING.........Welcome to Zombo com! Anything is possible at Zombo com! You can do anything at Zombo com!

I've found some super handy video game specific websites, too.

A not completely comprehensive but still very useful site that tells you what physical releases can actually be played without an internet download (how much of the game is on the disc and how well does it work).

This is the site I go to if I need to figure out how to get an old PC game working on modern OS' and what official or unofficial patches/fixes are available.

Nintendo eShop, except it doesn't suck. It also has a handy sales tracker. It shows a timeline of the online price and when games were priced at its lowest. I don't think I've ever seen a site do something like this. Great way to find trends in digital store pricing.

I ended up showing so many people this when it was last posted here. The old lady and I spent so much time looking through it, we even had a strategy to cover the whole thing. She started on the right side of the image and worked left, I started on the left side and worked right.
