Had my first new Gamewinners dream last night

So you might be wondering, what is a gamewinners dream. Well before this site opened, I would a couple times a year have a dream where I logged in and gamewinners was back and running. I'd wake up and be a tad sad as this place was huge part during my development as a teen.

Anyway last night I dreamed we had some sort of big zoom call from the new site.

A Zoom call with us dipshits here would certainly be a strange reality… so it’s gotta make for a wild dream.

I haven’t been able to remember dreams, unless they’re bad, for quite a long time. However, I do distinctly remember one particular time where I stayed up late working on a spin-off side… we were having a hell of a time figuring out how to get a particular modification to work, so, like other things… you end up thinking about it as you’re laying there. Then… the solution hit me, I got back up, fired up the laptop, and tried it out. It didn’t work… but I was confident enough that it would work that I got up outta bed. It always stuck with me because I was SO sure I had it figured out. Nowadays… I can’t even remember exactly which one it was. I think it may have been an RPG add-on that basically turned forum posting into game-related objectives, 1 post equals 1 XP type deal.

That made me remember Legend of the Green Dragon somehow. Man that was fun in some places once people modded it better.

The particular mod I’m talking about was SO detailed, dude. It came with a complete inventory that you could name and price the items, weapons, and armor. There were so many different features to it that it took MONTHS to get functional for what the forums used it for.

.... that actually sounds familiar. I think I was on a forum that had it running and it was super fun! I think it was mainly used for like CT, profile pic, name change things as well as some minor shenanigans. There mightve been a ban a user option too.

Same, although I don't remember bad ones either. I'd guess it's the weed. I used to have pretty vivid ones until I started smoking. Now, nothing.

Did you dream the (not) solution, or just get it while laying there? Cause actually dreaming about vBulletin admin problems is a much darker hole to fall down.

I remember some XP mod on a forum, but I don't think the one I'm thinking of was a GW spin-off. I want to say I recall some kind of battle system in it too but I could be conflating shit.

Yep, you would have been around for it… because it was when Maj, you, and I were tweaking the ever-loving fuck outta that RPG mod. That was definitely one of our largest undertakings, and there were so many moving parts we all manned different sections of it to get it running.

Yeah, it's definitely the weed. I quit it for a while and after two weeks, I started having dreams again. I then learned the hard way that taking melatonin can make them extra vivid.

I used to enjoy dreaming, but they feel different and weird and vaguely unsettling nowadays. However there's evidence to suggest that your brain works through trauma while you sleep and that your dreaming being interfered with (whether through drugs suppressing them or nightmares waking you up) also interferes with that process, so I wonder if not dreaming for years is what's made them weird now. Maybe my brain has a backlog of shit to work through and they'll eventually go back to being pleasant.
