one of the openings for the gundam my wife and i are watching rn (0083: Stardust Memory) is an earworm that is so damn good. this OVA came out in 1990-91 and it's like, almost embarrassingly clear how inspired it is by top gun very specifically (to a lesser extent the right stuff as well). i say "almost" because the end result still kicks ass, both in terms of the music and in terms of the show itself, though we're only halfway through rn
