the r word, lol

In less rape involved news, the Browns and Myles Garrett agreed to a massive contract extension that keeps him in Cleveland until 2030 where he'll likely just retire. All this nonsense about him wanting to be traded if the Browns weren't serious about contending and the Browns just throw a bunch of money in his face and he's like, "Sure, I'll embrace the sadness."

People are speculating that this definitely means they're picking a QB at #2.

Davante Adams to the Rams. All but confirming Cooper Kupp will be traded soon.

Harold Landry to the Patriots. I like the move.

DK Metcalf traded to the Steelers. I don't like the move because I think the Patriots should have made this deal if Higgins is off the table. If Higgins garners a similar trade value and contract (he should) the Patriots and Bengals better be all over it.

Geno Smith traded to the Raiders. I mean... I'm not sure what Seattle is doing other than ruining JSN's career.

My wife doesn't enjoy watching sports too often, so I don't try to overwhelm the system with too many games.

She hates basketball the least (from SoCal, where the typical person actually cares about the Lakers. Her dad actually enjoys both the Lakers and Clippers, so games are on quite often when we visit), so right now I tend to put on the NBA playoffs.

jeff lurie not exactly offering the best explanation

Eagles Chairman and CEO Jeffrey Lurie recently explained why they accepted the invitation this time.

"We just felt this is a time-honored tradition being invited by the White House. So, there was no reticence whatsoever. To be celebrated at the White House is a good thing," he said. "There were special circumstances back then that were very different, and so this was kind of an obvious choice and look forward to it."

special circumstances?? very different???? no dude you're just more scared of trump now lmao

I wonder if it’s like Chris Carson’s neck injury a few years back. Doctors told him if he kept playing one wrong hit would paralyze him.
I thought exactly the same thing when I read that he was out for the year. Obviously I'm not a medical professional, but surely to injure such a fragile part of your body that seriously is not a good sign going forwards.

Absolutely. I remember reading about Carson and how he was going to try to play through it, but my goodness I'm glad he didn't. I'd say the same thing here. Your neck is one of the most undervalued parts of your body, housing the protection to your spine. It's not worth your long term health to try and push this. Retire if you have to. I don't know know much about JOK, but I'll assume married with kids. Don't do it to them.

I think that's a serious overpay for a system QB.
Is there any realistic route to getting him cheaper? He's a quality starter regardless of whether you consider him to be a system QB or not. You can't move on from a player like that. If players like Kyler Murray and Trevor Lawrence have gotten big deals, I don't see how you can avoid paying Purdy something equivalent.

53 million per season for a system qb is ridiculous. This is a system that made jimmy garoppolo look great and backups like dobbs, beathard, Kyle allen and Brian hoyer look respectable. He could literally draft anyone and have similar results.

Don’t get me wrong though. Last pick in the draft. To fleece anyone team into giving you 53 million per season is an accomplishment.

But like jimmy g, would do squat on any other team. So it’s a good match. I think it’s absurd money for a system qb but it’s smart for both sides.

gotta pay your franchise QB

Quality QBs are hard to come by. Just look at Cleveland, Chicago... or the Jets.
Not really comparable. Cleveland, the Jets and Chicago have bad ownerships and terrible coaches. Giants too for the most part. I’m willing to bet even Zach Wilson would be a Super Bowl contender on the niners.

Or do like me and settle for 80% of the games and get a vpn! Between that and the local streaming channels I pay maybe $30 per month for 80% of the games.

To be fair, they invested a lot in Trey Lance and he wasn't good enough in the system to keep.

He played two games for them then blew his leg out in a crappy weather game. And has never really been given a chance after. He looked fine in one start with Dallas last season. Hard to judge him to be fair.
