TGVGD The Great Video Game Draft (n64 Draft)

LttP is fine up until you get to the worm boss that keeps knocking you down to the floor below requiring you to trek back up to restart the boss fight all over again.

Fuck that boss. I would rather get curbstomped by any random boss in Dark Souls than deal with that fucker.
lol I felt the frustration of that boss too, but that only makes it more epic to me.

You're gonna have a lot of hot takes because we've already run out of worthwhile N64 games.
You mean I'm not going to be able to save my draft by getting late round value in some diamonds in the rough?

It was definitely rough as a kid, but the few times I've replayed and played randomizer and had to kill that bozo it wasn't that bad.

I'd still say the eyeball or thief's dungeon flying head boss is worse.

I'll probably still have no problem picking 7 games given how many solid choices the N64 library has, but being so low on the list is already getting rough. With Smash taken, I've only got like one title left on my "pick as soon as possible" list. And that's after completely forgetting that Banjo and StarFox existed.

To add to the previous conversation, I've played a good handful of Zelda games but I have yet to finish one, including OoT which I've played twice. They all seem relatively the same, but Wind Waker is by far my favorite so far. MM seems like an interesting but less appealing OoT to me from what I've seen. BotW I played until I got off the main island, then ran around for a bit, got overwhelmed by the sheer size of it, and stopped playing. Someday I'll find the time to go back to it maybe. I dunno, Zelda games too long. Gimme a Mario instead any day.

Also the water temple was one of the easiest ones and it definitely has nothing to do with the fact that I played the remake version :crossarm

Gotcha. Yeah it does seem kind of bizarre that you find that one easy but say the rest of the Zelda titles were too hard for you to finish.
It's not necessarily that they were too hard. Sometimes I'd get stuck here and there, but at a certain point I'd just lose interest and start playing other games. And by the time I return I have no idea what I was doing in the game.

But apparently when they remade OoT for the 3DS they made the water temple less confusing or something. Which is probably the real reason I didn't struggle with it. The 3DS version is the only one where I made it that far in the game.

Over the shoulder is the only correct option

I never knew they remade it for the DS (or anywhere). Yeah I only played the OG version.

It's a tough one isn't it. I always felt MM has better mechanics, puzzles, and more content, a lot thanks to being a good sequal. OoT has better story and progression as well as a sense of meaning.

Although, some of the sidequests in MM do add in quite a bit more depth and story-telling, but I'm just talking about the main progression.

My 2 cents. And I by no means dislike MM. Preference is OoT.
I've always heard MM had the better story

I still want to try ktb

@Banana time
this is how i strive to always be introduced from now on. thanks for setting the bar so high.

i have about many games that i feel like i could pick from for now. a problem i dont foresee as we get into the late rounds. its a tough decision so im going to go with the game that i think is the most unique and a genre that isnt a strength of the n64.

i pick Paper Mario.

the longer we go between picks the more hot takes i will post. super mario odyssey was a better game than breath of the wild.
SMO is a C tier game and I'll die on that hill. Way too easy and mindless. Mile wide centimeter deep. Good for kids first mario

BotW isn't for me

the n64 has a deeper library than people give it credit for.
I think it's the worst of the three big systems that generation (though I will admit mario 64 and OOT are great, after them there's not much I want to play today)

I remember there being an optional boss rush on the moon or something that was annoyingly hard. And there were certainly a few parts being somewhat challenging throughout. I've certainly never heard of anyone call Odyssey "too easy". I think, while Nintendo definitely includes a lot of levels that are a bit too easy, they're usually pretty good at also including harder sections in Mario games. But I'm not really of the Souls nerd mind where I think a game needs to be hard to be good.
