I've probably wrote out this post and deleted 5 or 6 times now.
A few folks here are already aware of my situation, and to them I just want to reiterate how much I appreciate all your support.
I know some people have noticed I've not been around (mainly in the wolf games I think).
Last month, my wife became quite sick. She had been feeling tired constantly, but we figured that was just the nature of being parents of a 2 and 6 year old. A few weeks ago, she began to feel even more tired, more like lethargic. This lead in to vomitting and some headaches, which we assumed was some sort of flu/stomach bug. After a couple days of her not improving, she was showing a very flat affect and was become non-responsive verbally. We took her into emergency, assuming she was becoming extremely dehydrated/low blood sugar, and they would get her on an IV to improve.
The neurological symptoms were a big red flag at the hospital, and they sent her for a CT scan. They found some lesions in her brain, and follow up MRI confirmed them to be cancer (multiple tumors and quite large). About a week later, they were able to get her into operate and after a nearly 12 hour surgery, they were able to remove a large amount of the tumor (but not all). She's been recovering in hospital from the surgery and is doing mostly well. Personality wise she is still herself, and memory is intact. Some cognitive slowdowns that may improve, and physically very weak but also hopeful to improve (and both have been improving markedly through her recovery).
Today she was allowed to come home for an overnight pass. It will allow us to get an idea of how and if we will be able to handle her at home more permanently, as she requires a lot of supervision and help currently.
After her body has recovered well enough, we will begin cancer treatments, but that is still likely at least a couple weeks away. We have a meeting this week with the cancer team to discuss what treatment will entail, how long, prognosis etc.
Right now there are good days and bad days. The last while has been more good days than bad.
I hope to be a bit more active on the forums as its a good distraction from time to time, but I will likely be posting really casually. No wolf for me for a while unfortunately.
And again, everyone that has been keeping us in their thoughts, I appreciate and love you all.
