It's so hot

For me anyway. I'm a bit of a sook about the heat (and headaches). It's only like 25 degrees celsius today, obviously lots of places get a lot hotter, or are always hotter than this.

But with where my house is situated, where the office is... I'm in an afternoon heat trap.

It's so hot, I had a joke that I started to make this thread for, but I've forgotten what it was.

Oh yeah. It's so hot I'm considering chopping off most of my beard.

At this point, you don't even really need to specify which scale it's on
I wouldn't swap, of course - but that's most due to the nature of NZ housing. I am a fan of the cold. That's not cold though, that's a fucken joke.

When I was in Finland, it was -24c, and we still had to have the window open at night because it was too warm inside for me.

Houses in New Zealand are a joke.

it's so hot my wife is going to bed and the time starts with a 7

Do you turn a fan on to keep cool?

When I lived in Florida, I started taking cold showers because hot showers would make me sweat all day. I hated it. I was relieved when I moved back to Missouri. I prefer to be in a state that has all the seasons and not just one all year round.

I still remember trying to plan a trip to Nunavut and realized you couldn't drive there, you'd have to take a rickety tiny plane at a certain point.

Big nope.
Was it during summer? Alot of northern manitoba/sask/alberta are muskeg and are pretty well untraversable by car

That's actually fairly common in Finland. I'm one who prefers to be slightly warmer than colder, but I kept my rooms window open whether it was -30c or +30c. Houses are built different there man.

Yesterday where I live

It's always interesting to see stuff like this from areas where they seem to be surprised about snow or just aren't equipped to tackle the snow almost immediately. Up here in upstate NY, the plows are usually already out before it starts and usually the main roads are at least 80% cleaned off during three snow, unless it's really heavy. Sideroads might take a day or so, but even they will look decent 24h after.

I live in Wisconsin, so we're definitely equipped for snow. This was just multiple large blizzards over several days.

Speaking of weather, I had like 6 inches of snow the other day, a day of reprieve and currently I hear rain outside. What is this.

Ahh, gotcha. Didn't think of that. Now it looks fairly decent as there's not even huge snowpiles left on the sides or corners of the road. It's all.taken care of already.

Here in Florida we see images like that and just wonder how you guys afford all that cocaine.

Oh god I am not looking forward to how cold it's gonna be in NYC when we go next month.
The city is always quite a bit warmer. So much radiant heat from everything there. When you leave the city though, that's when it will hit you.

Even in areas that do get prepared, small rural towns take a beating so everyone needs to self-remove snow (it's still going too).

I used to live outside a town of 701 people and it was brutal like that. My "driveway" was half a mile long and for whatever reason would blow shut pretty often even though there were a bunch of trees on one side, so we had to wait a day for the neighbors to plow us out. "Luckily" we heat the house with wood (no electric or gas heat there still to this day), so if the power goes out and you're stranded there at least you're not dead.

Now I live in Madison, metropolitan area is 680k, so I wouldn't call it small, but damn we haven't had this much consecutive snow in years.

Oh wow.

I'm not THAT rural thankfully, about 17k people here (and nearest other town is 25 mins away) but wow that sounds like absolutely atrocious for snow.
lol okay yeah where I grew up was ultra rural. It's so rural sometimes I forget what most people consider rural. @Disgustipated can confirm, dropped me in a snowbank on the farm once  The nearest actual town of any substantial size was 6,000 about 30 min away. The "town" I lived outside was technically a Village.

Definitely atrocious for snow. And most basic services. I often wonder how many people die there simply because of lack of services and distance from or difficulty getting to a hospital. My increasingly elderly parents are set on dying there though. Not dealing with other humans does have it's charm!

I did drop you in the snow once! And yes, it is very rural. I grew up in what I thought was a small town, with about 10,000 people, multiple farms, etc. Visiting you was quite a different experience!

Not really that bad here.

...Oh. Literally as I typed that sentence, it got dark as hell outside and started hailing.

Oxford was so small we didn't even have our own high school until 2007! It was small to me! lol
Wikipedia tells me all of Grant county is only 51,938 people apparently lol

In other news, the local airport tells me it snowed 16.6".

Edit: I guess it's missing whatever it snowed again last night, so probably more like 17-18".

Edit Edit

That’s like the combined number of students in my high school and my wife’s high school combined (when we attended)
